I met Terry at a party launching the Canadian Guide to Working and Living Overseas. Later we became collegues for a fews months when I was invited to join the team working on the third edition of the book. Despite the clear image I have of Terry in my mind (based on the few occasions on which we spoke), I cannot say that I knew Terry at all. Indeed, he seemed like a kind and interesting person but I did not have a feeling for who he was, what he liked or what he believed in. When Terry died, Jean-Marc passed on the news to me through my parents, who kindly sent me news clippings about Terry's life & works. Wow! Wouldn't it be wonderful if each of us could be as effective as Terry was in translating our beliefs into effective action? It strikes me as a shame that it is but after his death, when only his spirit remains, that I am getting to know Terry a bit. Better late than never, I guess. Still, I envy all of you who knew Terry better and were able to share in his life and learn from his example. Sarah Q.
