Terry was the only proof I've ever needed that one person can make a difference.

I first met Terry in 1991 through his scathing Burma satire, The Mad Teak Party (which, incidentally, remains the best satirical play on Burma I've come across). In the years since, I could always count on him for leadership in the Burma struggle, support and of course his latest well-researched, meticulously-written public outreach materials. The broad scope of Terry's concern and the depth of his involvement were astounding. As he himself put it in an e-mail a few years ago: "but I can never go to bed until I've had my daily fix of activism. Down, boy! Nice doggie. . ." Yet for all the seriousness of his commitments, his sense of humour was never far away. Who else could enliven the ride back from a meeting by a perfectly silly debate about the difference between Bavarian and Boston cream donuts?

Cheers, Terry, and for all you did, thank you. "We'll miss you" doesn't even begin to describe it.
