When Terry died he was stuck between paying jobs, and on assistance under the Harris regime; under Harris's workfare legislation if you don't have work they give just enough to starve to death. Now the papers say Harris will continue to cut social spending, eszpecially to welfare and to students.
The man is an obvious idiot in terms of how to drum up revenue - casinos are good. People like Terry don't desreve enough to eat. That's how the Harris regime in Ontario sees it.It is a testament to Harris's incompetance as a leader that my friend is dead and that the world has lost a person who did so much and yet died poor - like Mozart. What has Harris done? Besides resurect a defunct and useless system like Workfare? It lost Alabama money, it is costing Canada lives and money.
Terry would want me to write this - I knew him very well.
Now the IMF wants Paul Martin to not spend any of the supposed Canadian surplus on social spending. This will destabilize Canada even further.
Why do elected people treat their best in ths hideous manner?

Terry - I pray your death not be in vain... as your life helped the people of South East Asia, may your death light a match to the war against the regime that did this to you, as did the death of poor Steven Biko: may it light a torch for activists to band together fight for the poor of Ontario and those who are homeless in a climate that half the year can kill you, and may proper social benefits be restored to those who are talented but maybe don't goose-step with the rest of society but can still make valuable contributions even if they can't always do a nine to 5 gig.
