After seeing some of Terry's writing on a LETS list maybe a year ago, I contacted him when I was in Ottawa visiting my son. We spoke on the phone, but didn't meet due to our schedules. About 7-8 weeks ago he biked over to my home after dinner, and we had a wonderful 2 hour chat. He had incredible energy and inquisitiveness; not preaching party line or dogma, we were exploring Y2K implications in both the financial system and local/global physical systems. He felt (& I agreed) that he had greater prospects for community networking in smaller scale cities than in Ottawa. He said that he was heading to Perth. I wished him luck, and then we had some e-mail contact for a while. Now I understand the recent silence.
I feel a loss after this very brief encounter. He was a special person, but most of you know this to a far greater extent than do I. He will be missed. Eerily, after our one single meeting, Trevor Banks died suddenly about two months ago. I will fondly remember them both.
